Print
Note: You require the DTview calibrated input profile in order to perform the procedure.
  • For MAC OS 9 users - Download the profile to:

DT files contain raw data. They are untoned and for that reason they appear dark with low contrast and may be difficult to view for retouching purposes. This oXYgen Smart Tip details how to use the DTview calibrated input profile to enable you to clearly view and retouch a DT file in the ADOBE PHOTOSHOP application and save the retouched file as a Creo DT file (a type of 16-bit raw-data TIFF).
Note: Using the DTview calibrated input profile does not affect the original raw data of the DT file.

To view and retouch a DT file:

Note: Screen captures in this procedure are taken from ADOBE PHOTOSHOP(version 6.0); the contents of this document are intended for KODAK scanner users using the oXYgen scanning application (version 1.1 or higher) and the ADOBE PHOTOSHOP application (version 5.0.2 or higher).
  1. In the ADOBE PHOTOSHOP application, select File>Open.

  2. Select the DT file that you want to retouch.

  3. From the Format list, select Creo DT.

  4. Click the Open button.

If the embedded profile does not match the profile in the settings, the Embedded Profile Mismatch dialog box opens.

  5. Select the Discard the embedded profile (don’t color manage) option, and then click OK.

  6. From the ADOBE PHOTOSHOP menu, select Image>Mode>Assign Profile.

  7. In the Assign Profile dialog box, click the Profile option, and then from the Profile list select the calibrated input profile DTview.

The image is automatically lightened and brightened.
Note: The lightening and brightening only affects how the image appears on a monitor. The raw data in the DT file is not affected.

  8. Retouch the image.

  9. From the ADOBE PHOTOSHOP menu, select File>Save As.

  10. In the Format box, select Creo DT.

  11. Click Save.

  12. In the TIFF Settings window that opens, click OK.

To view the retouched DT file:

  1. In the oXYgen scanning application, select File>Open.

  2. In the Open DT File window, select the retouched DT file.

  3. Click Open.
A preview image appears without visible retouching.

  4. Click the Prescan button to view the retouching.

Note: When you open a DT file in the oXYgen Open application, the file is automatically toned.
