Scanning for Scientific Research
Print

Professional scanners can be used as wide-format microscopes for direct digital imaging of biological samples, such as stained tissue sections. Using a KODAK Scanner as a microscope allows you to analyze specimens with greater accuracy and efficiency. It allows a large field of view with a true optical resolution of 220 dpm (4.6 micron pixels). The scanner also captures a spectacular range of colors and displays the finest shadow details. Its large format scans almost 70 microscope slides (1 x 3 in.) in one batch, freeing you for other work.

As a side benefit, the captured images can be saved as digital transparencies. Access them in a digital library and open them anytime to collaborate with peers and repurpose the image for further uses.

Key benefits:

  • Large scanning area (305 x 457 mm) accommodates batches of small and large samples or negatives
  • High optical resolution of up to 220 dpm (4.6 micron pixels) over the entire format, in file sizes over 4 GB
  • Raw 16-bit data capture, in color or black and white, providing accurate data for image analysis
  • CCD dynamic cooling and MaxDR (multi-sampling) provide a maximum density of 4.5 for superb shadow detail and high-quality, low-noise data
  • Advanced focus modes: auto, manual, and batch scans of multiple layers/sections
  • Electron microscopy negative conversions into high-quality digital files for image analysis, 3D model generation, and archiving
