SWOP
 SWOP specifies the parameters necessary to ensure the consistent quality of advertising in publications in North America. SWOP Certification requires submitting a SWOP Application Data Sheet and proofs. The Application Data Sheet presents manufacturer’s recommendations including sequence, colorants and substrate, which when followed, result in appropriate colorimetric (CIELAB) and densitometric (density and dot gain/TVI) data for the best match to SWOP Certified Press Proofs. SWOP representatives determine acceptance, and verify the system’s visual match to a SWOP Certified Press Proof.

 The Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) promotes and protects the interests of the magazine industry.
The Proof4Press initiative is intended to ensure that both advertising and editorial pages are proofed to the same standard. The accreditation process includes:
- RIP standardization
- Visual assessment of proofs compared to target
- Objective assessment of objective test form
- Input of data into Proof4Press verifier software

FOGRA
 The FOGRA Graphic Technology Research Association of Germany provides characterization data for offset, newspaper and screen printing. They have created a rigorous program for evaluating proofers that are able to emulate those printing conditions. The test criteria evaluated are:
- Homogeneity of gray tinted areas
- Drift of CMYK and RGB solids
- Repeatability of proof printing
- Homogeneity of proofing substrate
- Coloration of Ugra/FOGRA Media Wedge 2.0 for specified typical offset printing conditions
- Inspection of long vignettes and ISO test images under 5000 K illumination
