KODAK APPROVAL Recipe Colors are the most realistic way to represent spot color inks on a high quality off-press proof. Recipe Colors are created as a true color blend inside the APPROVAL system. Each Recipe Color has full screening or vignette capability using the REAL spot color, not a 4-color screen build or a dithered dot-in-dot simulation. A PANTONE^® 264 Violet or a PANTONE^® 461 Green really is that color on the proof, even under a magnifying glass. Trapping and overprints on these colors will be as they are on press.

Recipe Colors can be produced in any hue and lightness within the gamut of the CMYK donor set, or can be further extended using the APPROVAL orange, green, and blue specialty donors. By adding the APPROVAL metallic donor to the "recipe", a wide range of metallic inks can be simulated as well. Recipe Color formulas may vary based on individual operating conditions. The most accurate Recipe Color match will be achieved on your specific machine using the tools provided with your APPROVAL system.
