EZ Deposit Service Allows Customers to Make Deposits without Traveling to Local Bank

ST. PAUL, Minn., and ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 18—Twin Cities based Sunrise Community Banks, known as “Minnesota’s Socially Responsible Banks®,” announced it is expanding its EZ Deposit service to business and nonprofit customers nationwide. This service allows customers to save time and energy by making electronic deposits from the convenience of their offices.

EZ Deposit account holders use KODAK Check Scanners with Web enabled Remote Deposit Capture Client/Server Software Solution and technical support from CFC Technology Corporation, a solutions provider of Kodak’s Remote Deposit Capture technology. EZ Deposit stands for “energy efficient and zero waste,” which complements Sunrise Banks’ socially responsible business model.

“EZ Deposit will allow Sunrise Community Banks to raise more deposits from like minded businesses, foundations and nonprofit organizations on a national scale,” said Andy Lawrence, Solutions Business Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “A service like EZ Deposit as the main entry point from a socially responsible and green financial institution sets the stage for Sunrise Banks to form relationships with other socially responsible and green institutions.”

With EZ Deposit, check images are captured by a scanner and deposited electronically to one of the Sunrise Community Banks in about the same time it takes to send an email. Through a secure Internet connection, check images are exchanged, processed and credited to a user’s account generally within 24 to 48 hours.

EZ Deposit reduces the chance of lost deposits. Returned items can be recovered as quickly and cost effectively as possible. Account holders need a PC, check scanner and Internet connection to use the service.

Location and proximity used to be key factors when choosing a financial institution, but EZ Deposit removes geographic restrictions and offers Sunrise Community Banks the opportunity to cultivate relationships with account holders who have similar values of community reinvestment and social justice. Depositors nationwide can choose from any of the three Sunrise Community Banks: Franklin National Bank in Minneapolis, and Park Midway Bank and University National Bank in Saint Paul, Minn.  The Sunrise Banks are certified Community Development Financial Institutions, a designation given to institutions with a proven mission and track record of community development. This designation is awarded by a department of the U.S. Treasury.

“Collectively, we’re recognized as ‘Minnesota’s Socially Responsible Banks®,’ having demonstrated our ability to make a difference in our urban communities,” said David Reiling, CEO, Sunrise Community Banks. “Our Socially Responsible Deposit Fund allows depositors to dedicate funds to be targeted toward affordable housing projects, community investment programs, and minority business development.”
