KODAK COLORFLOW technology debuts at Graph Expo
CHICAGO, Oct. 16—The industry’s most expansive set of proofing technologies, on display in Kodak’s booth (#400) at Graph Expo and Converting Expo, enables print providers to generate proofs that accurately predict production color using the solution that best fits their workflow, fidelity and budget requirements.
For added assurance of delivering consistent color every time, Kodak is showing KODAK COLORFLOW technology for the first time. Proofing products currently enabled by COLORFLOW technology include the KODAK VERIS digital proofer, KODAK MATCHPRINT Virtual software and KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet proofing solution. At Graph Expo, the KODAK APPROVAL NX digital color imaging system will feature COLORFLOW technology as a technology demonstration.
COLORFLOW technology helps customers optimize color reproduction, increase efficiency, enhance quality control, improve cycle times and lower costs.
“Customers can be confident in the system’s ability to accurately communicate, control and confirm color through the print production process with COLORFLOW technology,” said Doug Goertzen, Director, Color, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “By working across multiple devices, COLORFLOW technology helps ensure streamlined connectivity, improved predictability and reduced errors in the delivery of color.”
At Graph Expo, Kodak will be showing for the first time the KODAK MATCHPRINT proofing solution with the new HP DESIGNJET Z2100 Photo in 24″ and 44″ formats. Utilizing the embedded spectrophotometer in this new HP printer, Certified Process for Color Confirmation and system calibration are now completely automated.
Kodak’s broad range of proofing technologies includes digital halftone solutions such as the KODAK APPROVAL NX digital color imaging system, which can accurately simulate production processes and generate millions of brilliant spot, specialty, corporate and brand colors, including lustrous metallics. The APPROVAL NX system can control density, dot gain, and proof spot colors on actual printing stocks and substrates for the most accurate prediction of the printing process. KODAK MATCHPRINT digital halftone proofing products for computer to plate (CTP) workflows offer faithful screening and file reproduction. Certified for 25 micron media, new donors such as white deliver color images to dedicated MATCHPRINT media or can transfer to customers’ print stock.
The KODAK VERIS digital proofer, also featured at Graph Expo, is based on Kodak developed MULTI-DROP ARRAY inkjet imaging technology that precisely steers ink droplets for true 1500 x 1500 dpi addressability at production speeds. The resulting drop placement accuracy, superior four dimensional (“4D”) ICC profile color management and consistent, quality controlled consumables allow the VERIS proofer to deliver excellent color consistency proof to proof and machine to machine.
Other proofing solutions on display include Top of Formthe KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet proofing solution and KODAK MATCHPRINT Virtual proofing software. The MATCHPRINT Inkjet proofing solution brings the next level of workflow connectivity and color precision to drop on demand (DOD) inkjet proofing. The MATCHPRINT Inkjet proofing solution is the first DOD proofing solution that is based on Kodak developed software, including innovative screening and calibration technologies, and a new Certified Process for Color Confirmation. Using the same KODAK Proofing Software as the popular KODAK VERIS digital proofer, customers will benefit from excellent color accuracy, enhanced image smoothness, quick calibration tools and direct connectivity to KODAK workflow solutions.
MATCHPRINT Virtual software is an option that enables color accurate monitor proofing and color approval workflow within KODAK InSite software, KODAK TeamWorks software and KODAK PressProof software. MATCHPRINT Virtual software provides accurate on screen color when viewed using qualified monitors and suitable lighting. MATCHPRINT Virtual software delivers the speed and convenience of monitor proofing for contract color.
