New Software Compatibility Enlarges Applications for KODAK Document Scanners

ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 3, 2006—Eastman Kodak Company continues to evolve both its portfolio of document imaging scanners and its image capture software behind its award-winning products.  KODAK Capture Software, Version 6.10, will support Kodak’s newest scanner lines for both desktop distributed and production scanning.  It will become widely available later this year.

The new version of KODAK Capture Software adds MICR code support.  A critical function in the sorting of checks, it augments current barcode and zonal OCR indexing capabilities.  Improved zonal OCR support enables the removal of unwanted and embedded spaces from OCR engine results—commonly referred to as kerning—ensuring extraction of only the most relevant content.  And, KODAK Capture Software now supports a tenth language, Swedish.

Version 6.10 will first be available on the just launched KODAK i1860 Scanner for production scanning applications—taking full advantage of the performance and features of the KODAK i1860 Scanner—and the new desktop workgroup/departmental KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners.

A page-limited version of the IRIS PDF output format, for producing fully searchable PDF files, will now also be bundled with mid-volume and high-volume production scanning Capture Software products, including KODAK Capture Software for the KODAK i600 and i800 Series Scanners, and the KODAK i1860 Scanner.  Previously, IRIS PDF was bundled only with Capture Software for KODAK i200 Series Scanners and below.

Additionally, Kodak introduces multi-pack discounts for large-volume licenses (50 and 100 seats) of KODAK Capture Software.  The new multi-pack discounts lower the total cost of ownership for customers who deploy large numbers of low volume production and/or distributed scanners in their organization.
