ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 4 – Kodak is pleased to announce the next generation LEAF Aptus camera back systems for commercial photographers: LEAF Aptus 75 and LEAF Aptus 65 systems.
The latest models provide features that offer photographers unprecedented flexibility and control. LEAF system users will benefit from the choice of sensor, driven by a 7.2 micron pixel size that delivers exceptional images, and a touch-screen LCD that presents unique tools for controlling final image quality. The next generation of the LEAF Aptus digital camera backs features a wide array of user-friendly pre-shoot setup options embedded in the raw file, which can significantly shorten delivery time of a final image or a printed job. Flexible, spacious storage options create freedom for shooting in any situation, whether in-studio or at remote locations.
"Our customers choose LEAF camera back systems because they strive to achieve the finest image quality possible. This is what positions them at the top of their industry," said Michael Rolant, Leader, LEAF products. "We are continuously addressing issues of concern to photographers. Currently, these include reducing image file sizes, which directly affects their production efficiency, and maximizing asset management with image sharing, processing, and preservation."
Sensor Format
The LEAF Aptus 75 camera back offers 6726 x 5040 pixels, resulting in file size of approximately 200MB (16-bit); the LEAF Aptus 65 camera back includes 6144 x 4622 pixels, resulting in file size of 160MB (16-bit). Completely lossless compression can be applied to the raw images to reduce file size by half, without any loss of the 16-bit captured data. Product sensitivity ranges from 50-800 ISO.
Extended Warranty
LEAF system customers receive the added value of a three-year warranty on the camera back and a smooth upgrade path to new generations of LEAF digital camera backs. "Photographers demand a system that is open to external systems and software," Rolant said. "We are extending our connectivity towards external systems and embracing open standards such as Digital Negative (DNG). New technologies within the next year are expected to boost the performance of the LEAF Aptus camera back systems with even higher resolution, without sacrificing image quality or user flexibility, within the next year."
The LEAF Aptus 75 system will be introduced during PhotoPlus Expo, October 20-22, 2005 in New York City and will be available at LEAF dealers in November. The LEAF Aptus 65 system will be available in Q1 2006.
